I too am from Nashville. It's a small, cozy place where everyone knows you. it's the kind of town where everyone stops what they are doing to honor a fallen Hero.
The wars in Iraq and Afghanstan have hit our country hard. My family is blessed; our soldier returned home. I do not know the pain that the McQueary family and so many others feel. I am blessed. I stood with hundreds of others in the cold, brisk wind to honor SGT McQueary and his family. In my right hand I held an American flag and in my left a homemade sign that read 'Godspeed Marine'. I was humbled as the cars passed and I saw the Marine's widow, his mother, and friends and family. SGT McQueary is at peace now, but his family will need our support. We must always remember the sacrifices our neighbors have made, and hopefully someday we will find a way to end these wars.
Do you know someone who has lost a loved one in the war? If you do, then please take time today to reach out to them. It will make a difference.
